The Schools we partner with

Escuela Fragua de la Independencia

Fragua de la Independencia is located in Centro San Miguel and is attended by  over 1000 children. Audubon’s Niños y Naturaleza program has been operating at the school since 2015, but we have been working with its principal since 2015.

Escuela Montes de Oca

Montes de Oca school is situated at the edge of a cliff overlooking the Presa Obraje. It’s student body of 225 children are involved with transforming their school into a nature oasis.  Audubon’s Niños y Naturaleza program has been operating at the school since 2016.

Escuela Nueva Senda

Nueva Senda was one of Audubon’s first Niños y Naturaleza schools, starting in 2014.  There are 225 students attending the school which is located in the community of San Luis Rey, high on a hill to the north of Centro. There are many gardens at the school and students, teachers and parents are dedicated to caring for their school environment.

Agua Vida SMA,  Observatorio Ciudadano del Agua y Saneamiento-OCAS

AguaVida SMA is a community outreach and education  initiative promoted by the Citizens Observatory of Water and Sanitation/OCAS, a community of non-profit organizations and residents who are committed to the understanding of water issues in San Miguel de Allende.  OCAS mission is to make the public and relevant authorities aware of information regarding the management of this public resource at its source, use and treatment.

Bodega Orgánica

Bodega Orgánica offers fresh organic vegetables and other organic and natural products at Mercado Sano. Bodega Orgánica also designs, installs and maintains urban vegetable gardens for private and business customers.

Camino Silvestre

Camino Silvestre is an ecologically responsible business that helps organizations who are protecting birds and the environment, it offers decorative objects for the house and garden, including a large variety of hummingbird and bird feeders, binoculars, bird observation guides and other books at their two locations in San Miguel de Allende. Their restaurant features delicious vegan meals, a variety of teas and other tantalizing treats.

Caminos de Agua

Caminos de Agua provides innovative water solutions that create adequate access to safe, healthy drinking water supply for communities at-rise in our local watershed, and leverages those solutions for others confronting similar water challenges throughout the world.

El Charco del Ingenio

El Charco del Ingenio is a Botanical Garden and outstanding Nature Preserve, committed to preserving the outstanding natural and cultural heritage of San Miguel de Allende. The reserve contains walking trails and a vast botanical collection of cacti and other Mexican plants, many of which are rare, threatened or in danger of extinction.

Cornell Lab of Ornithology

Cornell Lab of Ornithology scientists, conservationists, engineers, educators, and students all work together for a common purpose: to understand birds and other wildlife, to involve the public in scientific discovery, and to use our knowledge to protect biodiverisity and our planet.

EcoRed SMA

San Miguel de Allende has to take the reins of its destiny and development, together “for a sustainable San Miguel.”

Franke’s Vivero

Franke’s Vivero generously supports environmental non-profits in San Miguel de Allende who are working in creating habitat.  Franke’s is known for its wide-variety of native and adapted plants, succulents and trees, most of which are cultivated at one of their three nurseries.

Keller Williams Bienes Raíces

Keller Williams is a realty company in San Miguel de Allende with a commitment to community, social and environmental service.

Los Senderos

Los Senderos is a unique residential and commercial development, located 2 miles north of Centro San Miguel, that has been developed in harmony with nature.

San Miguel Community Foundation

The San Miguel Community Foundation (SMCF), is a U.S. charitable foundation which awards grants twice a year to eligible Mexican non-profits that are the neediest at the time of grant review. Since 2002, the foundation has donated over 1.2 million dollars to benefit the San Miguel de Allende community.

San Miguel Garden Club

The San Miguel Garden Club is a social community service organization that supports botanical gardening and floral design.  Over the years the Garden Club has provided contributions to help maintain and improve gardens in public parks, schools, and public buildings.

San Miguel de Allende Municipal Government and Department of Ecology

The San Miguel de Allende Municipal Government and Department of Ecology helps to facilitate the endeavors of local environmental non-profits.

Somos Semilla

Somos Semilla is a Community Seed Library that aims to offer the community access to seeds of crop varieties adapted to local conditions. The Library works through a “loan-return” system, provides education, and plays an important long-term role in our environment, as it safeguards our legacy generation after generation.

Via Orgánica is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote healthy eating and sustainable future through the promotion of knowledge and practice of organic regenerative agriculture, fair trade, social justice, sustainable living and protecting the planet.  They operate an organic farm in Jalpa which supports a variety of educational projects and a grocery store and restaurant in Colonia Guadalupe.
